Common Field is a network of artists and organizers amplifying the visibility and viability of arts organizing programs across the United States and beyond, through connecting independent arts organizations and organizers, artists and curators, and organizers to advance the discourse around artist programs and spaces. Formed in 2014, Common Field will work to provide platforms for research, exchange, support, advocacy, and mentorship that explore and expand arts organizing resources and practices.
Our major programs include Hand in Glove, a national conference on grassroots arts organizing, founded by Threewalls in 2011, and initiatives over the next year that will produce new research on the state of the field.
Threewalls stewards this program with our leadership partners Courtney Fink, Southern Exposure (San Francisco), Nat May, SPACE (Portland, ME), Elizabeth Chodos, Ox-bow (Saugatuck, MI), and Stephanie Sherman, Elsewhere (Greensboro, NC).
