SOLO
The SOLO Program at threewalls aims to support local and regional artists with a solo exhibition and stipend. Determined through an open application process, the SOLO program is juried by a committee of local artists, curators, writers and historians, electing work for exhibition based on variety of criteria, that includes: work that is less commercially viable and could benefit from exhibition support at a NFP institution; work that represents a significant growth, change or risk in an artist's practice; work that is challenging in terms of content, media or presentation; as well as looking to support ideas or practices that are timely, significant or provocative.
SOLO exhibitions are accompanied by free-publications with an essay by a creative writer, art historian, critic or theorist. Please visit our exhibition archives to download PDF essays for the 2010/11 exhibitions.
The 2012/2013 SOLO exhibition program is: DIanna Guerrero-Maciá (main space) and Jessie Mott (project space), Mary Patten (main space) and Matthew Paul Jinks (project space), Jessica Hyatt (main space) and Andrew Norman Wilson (project space), and Marissa Benedict (main space) and Aay Preston-Myint (project space).
Artist Talks: There's so much more behind an artist's body of work or practice - please, join us to hear about their influences and development at our regularly scheduled 'talks,' in conjunction with SOLO and residency exhibitions. Check the calendar for upcoming presentations.
threewalls accepts applications from local and regional artists for solo exhibitions through the 'SOLO' program. Artists working in all media and any stage in their career are encouraged to apply. The application fee for the program is $20.00. Although the application is competitive, applying exposes your work to colleagues in the art community to the benefit of applicants. GROUP SHOWS/OTHER OPPORTUNITIES
threewalls is host to a number of group shows and special projects in their programming cycle, including exchange shows with other artist-run centers. In the past we've co-curated exhibitions with Charlotte Street Foundation, Kansas City, exhibited projects from Vox Populi, Philadelphia; Alternator Gallery, Kelowna and DetroitMONA, Detroit, and in turn exhibited threewalls group shows in their galleries. We have also been host to book and magazine releases, readings, one-night video screenings and special guest-curated shows.
If you have a special project you'd like to inquire about us hosting, please email Executive & Creative Director, Shannon Stratton at shannon(at)three-walls.org for more information about making a proposal. Making an inquiry does not guarantee acceptance. threewalls will accept proposals based on strength of proposal, current programming and gallery availability.
