Rachel Mijares Fick was born in 1987 in Washington, DC. She is an interdisciplinary artist, living and working in Brooklyn, NY. Her work stems from research and experiences in different healing and therapeutic practices. She cultivates these encounters to make new rituals for healing, with a subjective frame of questioning and experimentation.
I'm OK if You're OK
February 25th, 5 PM
Towards the end of her residency, Rachel Mijares Fick will present "I'm OK If You're OK," a multi-sensorial, ceremonious performance. It will take place in the project space which she has transformed during her residency, into a sanctuary of found objects collected in Chicago thrift stores and off of Craigslist. "I'm OK If You're OK" will combine and appropriate healing techniques that she has investigated in Chicago and in her hometown of New York City. It is a highly interactive piece: the artist will perform acts of therapy on the audience. These rituals will involve the group to sync up their energy and their heartbeats as well as laugh, listen, and howl together.
