The Propeller Fund provides grants to artists and artist groups living and working in Cook County, Illinois, producing a wide-range of public culture.
Propeller Fund recognizes that small, self-organized operations constitute a large catalyst for the creative activity and vitality of the Chicago visual art world. These projects are responsible for much of the complexity and richness in the art community. Propeller Fund exists to stimulate its further growth; to encourage more varied models; to spread the activities into more diverse areas; to promote the public’s interaction with, and public recognition of such activities; and to spark ambitions beyond current formats.
Propeller Fund offers 50,000 USD annually. Launched in May 2010, Propeller Fund is administered jointly by Gallery 400 at the University of Illinois at Chicago and Threewalls. Propeller Fund receives support from Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts through the Regional Re-granting Program.
Propeller Fund is now accepting applications for the 2017 year.
Visual arts projects that are independent and self-organized, collaborative and public-oriented are eligible for monetary awards ranging from $1,000 to $6,000. With over 100 funded projects to date we encourage the ambitious to apply.
The application deadline is August 1.
