Philosophy

Television series Lovecraft Country (2020) by Misha Green illuminates the In-Session theme of “call and response” by exploring Black intergenerational healing while combating the traumatic impact of white supremacy with the use of Black magic. Viewers witness each character take Afro-futuristic journeys to remember, reclaim, and reimagine their identities at the intersections of Blackness, queerness, and spirituality. The text was selected because it amplifies Rodney and Jessica’s yearning to embody and fight for Black liberation in our multidimensional universe through ancestral creative and spiritual practices.
