As a growing values-driven organization, Threewalls welcomes building new relationships, fostering partnerships, and working with like minded individuals to make our community stronger through arts and culture.
2020 Fall Intern
Programming Intern: September 1-December 15, 2020
Stipend: $840/month or $17.50/hour, taxable income
Hours: Part-Time, Flexible (12 hours/week)
An evolving Black-led nonprofit organization, that unapologetically celebrates blackness, intersectionality, and exists through Black feminist practices, Threewalls fosters contemporary art practices that respond to lived experiences, encouraging connections beyond art. We center ALAANA (African, Latinx, Arab, Asian, and Native American) artists, creatives and collaborative projects, especially those which are best presented outside of traditional art spaces. Through the internship, we seek to offer a vibrant experiential opportunity for those interested in working within a progressive, thoughtfully inclusive environment.
Threewalls’s Programming Intern will provide administrative support to all programs including Propeller Fund, RaD Lab + Outside the Walls Fellowship, and virtual engagements. They will gain insights into the ways Threewalls engages with artists, neighborhoods and communities across Chicago and beyond.
We are looking for applicants with knowledge of contemporary art, experience in exploring the intersections of art and community, and a strong interest in social justice issues surrounding race, disability and gender equity. As Threewalls moves toward offering more online content, we are particularly interested in those who have digital editing skills, and a clear understanding of how to use social media and virtual meeting platforms effectively.
More specifically, the intern will be responsible for the administration around our virtual engagements including transcription, scheduling artist meetings, helping artists in navigating equipment, and organizing footage and sound content.
The Programming Intern will work remotely; independently handle select tasks; and participate in Threewalls team meetings. Working hours are flexible. The Programming Intern will report to the Director of Programs.
Please email your resume and one-page letter of interest in PDF format to [email protected] with “Programming Intern” in the subject line. Submissions will be accepted until July 13, 2020. Virtual interviews will take place the week of July 20, 2020.
Threewalls welcomes applications from all who are interested, with priority consideration for those who identify as: ALAANA (African descendent, Latinx, Arab, Asian, Native American), 2SITLQ (Two-spirit, Intersex, Transgender, Lesbian, Queer), non-binary, and/or disabled. Threewalls is an equal opportunity employer.
For disabled individuals interested in applying, should you need further assistance, contact Barak adé Soleil, Threewalls’ Director of Programs at 347.385.0986 (text or call) between Tuesday – Saturday 11:00am – 4:00pm or email [email protected]
